Laos 10 Days ex Vientiane

Vientiane - Luang Namtha - Muang Singh - Nong Khiaw - Luang Prabang

A dream of exotic tribal cultures, saffron clad monks, silks that flow like rivers and

rivers that flow like silk. Mix that up with the absolute serenity of villages where the

sound of rice growing mixes with bird song and the laughter of children. Explore,

dream, learn how to cook the local cuisine and surrender to compulsory herbal saunas

and massage breaks in Laos, the land where rivers dream.



DAY 1

Morning meet in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos and take the noon flight to Luang

Namtha. (1 hour)

Nestled in the north of mountainous Laos, just a hop, skip and a jump from the Chinese

border, dusty Luang Nam Tha has a remote, cowboy town feel to it and is the base for eco

tourism in the area.

DAY 2

Visit the mornng fresh foods market. In addition to a variety of local fruits and vegetables,

you may see ethnic women selling unusual forest products unique to Luang Namtha.

Handcrafts. By cycle we visit the hill tribe villages of Ban Namdee and the Lenten tribe

(8km).

DAY 3

Two hours by road to Muang Singh. Muang Sing is very close to the Chinese border. It

offers an abundance of local ethnic minority groups and is surrounded by gorgeous

scenery. Its busy Sunday market is a vital connection between people on both sides of the

border. Life in Muang Sing centres around the market and men and women in traditional

dress is a common and spectacular sight.

Walk to Akha and Yao Villages. Evening traditional sauna and massage.

DAY 4

Morning market and travel by road to Nong Kiaw, visiting hill tribe villages along the way.

This is an 8 hour journey.

DAY 5

Depart by boat to Nam Ou Riverside Resort. It takes about 6 hours on boat. On the way

stop to visit the hill tribe villages as Kamu and Hmong.

 DAY 6

In the morning after your breakfast we take our second leg cruise to down town Luang

Prabang, stopping to visit the Pak Ou Caves. (2 hours by slow Boat).

DAY 7

Morning Alms giving ceremony and Wat spotting. Compulsory massage stop and Night

markets.

DAY 8

Silk Weaving Centre workshop.

Rest of day at leisure.

Cooking class at Tamarind Restaurant.

Land based price flying into Vientiane and out of Luang Prabang for the month of

December 2012. Price is based on a twin share basis, all flights, transport, cooking class

and accommodation is included. Breakfast is included where indicated but lunch and
